Embrace Your Fierceness.

On episode 75 of The Mod Co Podcast I chat with my favorite podcast host Ashley Leggs!

Ashley is the founder of AshMedia Network and the host of not one, but two impactful podcasts. Her remarkable journey began with the Slay Girl Slay podcast, a platform dedicated to motivating and inspiring women to be leaders in their community, fiercely go after what they deserve and show up as their most unapologetic, most authentic selves.

Ashley is known for being the best friend every woman should have, her powerful yet relatable messages have attracted the likes of hundreds of thousands of diverse women all over the world. In addition to her groundbreaking work on Slay Girl Slay, Ashley recently launched her second show, The Good News Podcast.

With this new endeavor, she continues her mission of spreading positivity and uplifting narratives, and providing a beacon of hope in challenging times. She is boldly defining the narrative of what it means to be an ambitious woman and embodies the very message she shares through her work.

Angel: What is the hardest lesson that you've learned during all of this?

Ashley: Patience. Patience is everything. It's more than just for business. It's for everything. Patience carries you. Sometimes you just have to wait.

Sometimes you have to use that time that you've been given to build to make it what it's supposed to be. It's not going to happen overnight. Nothing happens overnight.

We live in this microwave society. We get on TikTok. We're watching 15-second videos, 30-second videos, and we see a girl tell her story in a 50-part story. Now she's famous.

You know what I'm saying? So in our minds, man, we worked hard, we should be doing that too. We should be getting the fame and the accolades too really quickly; and sometimes you really got to let stuff cook first before other people digesting.

I like to think I would rather take my time and build as opposed to blowing up overnight, because then people will forget. In another couple months, they're going to be like, who are you?

But if you go slowly and you're building and you're growing and you're building and you're growing, and your people are going with you, your fans or your supporters, your customers, they believe in you from the jump, and you're carrying these people with you. Those people don't forget about you.

You're creating your own space in the world when you decide to just go at your own pace and accept that things will not happen overnight.

So that's what I had to learn. Patience, it really is the key to everything. It's not something that you physically do. Patience is a heart posture. It's, how I choose to move forward.

Patiently, I'm going to wait and I'm going to keep working and keep being patient.

Angel: What did you do through the times where you was just like, I wanna give up like, God, I said this was my last job, but now I got this podcast, I'm sitting here in my childhood bedroom and this thing is not bringing in any money. How did you motivate yourself to keep going through on those times?

Ashley: I never wanna live my life in a what if state, right?

So I never wanna go through life like, what if I do this, what if I did that? I used to think like, if I gave up today, what if it happens tomorrow? Or what if I just held on a little bit longer and it happens next week and I get the downloads or I get the sponsor or whatever, right?

I never wanted to live with that kind of regret. Like, man, if you just had kept going, who knows what would have happened and so that's the first thing, right?

I just can't do what if. I don't want to be sitting in my rocking chair at 99 on my way to meet Glory. Like, I wish I would have kept going with this thing.

"I can say I want to give up, but deep down, because I'm so committed to it, and I've made this decision that, yes, this is what I'm gonna do, and I'm gonna see through to the very end." -Ashley
